Keep the global objective clear and the local discussion meaningful
International research teams often arrive with an established brief, screener and discussion guide. The Thailand component still needs attention to respondent language, local assumptions and the way questions work in conversation. Nopporn Seenuan can discuss support for that local qualitative component, from preparation and moderation to debriefing and synthesis.
A research background relevant to the work
Nopporn has worked in qualitative research since 2014 and has been Co-Founder of RAAKDIN since 2022. His experience includes focus-group proposals and objective development, screening questionnaires, discussion guides, focus-group moderation, research reports and insight synthesis.
Working with your existing guide
Share the guide alongside the research objectives, not in isolation. A review can consider wording, assumptions, cultural context and where local probing may be needed. Agree the scope of guide review or localisation for the specific project. Full translation and supported languages need separate confirmation.
Moderation and communication with your team
Discuss the objectives, respondent context and approach for focus groups or IDIs before fieldwork. A useful debrief brings respondent language, observations, contradictions and unresolved questions back to the wider team. Agree how much synthesis is needed and in what format.
Confirm the practical requirements
- Recruitment and locations: clarify the respondent profile, recruitment arrangements and fieldwork locations. Bangkok is the main base; travel elsewhere in Thailand can be discussed against the brief, timing and requirements.
- Client observation: confirm how the team would like to observe and whether the required viewing arrangements can be provided.
- Recording: agree availability, consent requirements and storage arrangements before sessions.
- Language and outputs: confirm English debriefs, transcription, translation and final reporting options rather than assuming they are included.
- Confidentiality: discuss any NDA requirements and confirm the process before sharing materials that depend on those terms.
